Why is my website not generating enquiries?

Start by finding where the journey breaks. If suitable visitors cannot find the site, work on discovery. If they visit without contacting you, review the offer and enquiry path. If requests arrive but do not turn into conversations, review the response. A redesign is one possible intervention; first gather evidence about the problem.

01

Can the right person find the right page?

Look at available search and visit data for the service you want to sell. Check whether the relevant page is public, accessible to search crawlers and linked from your website. In Search Console, inspect that URL rather than inferring indexing from a lack of enquiries. If there is no usable measurement, record the gap before drawing conclusions.

Compare the page with the question a buyer would ask. “Who can build a website with quote requests for my trade business?” needs a concrete answer about the service and handoff. A general slogan may leave that reader uncertain. Start with one valuable service and improve its explanation before producing many similar pages for different keywords.

02

Does the page answer the buying questions?

Ask somebody unfamiliar with the business to identify what you offer, who it serves, where it is available and what happens next. If they cannot answer, revise the opening. Describe the work included and the limits. Explain how a quote is prepared when a fixed public price would be misleading.

Use relevant evidence that you are allowed to share: a completed project, an explanation of the work or a genuine customer quotation. Label concepts and examples. If buyers compare doing the work themselves with hiring you, explain the tradeoffs and when each route fits. The goal is to help a suitable customer decide with enough information.

03

Can someone actually make an enquiry?

Walk through the page on a phone. Check the contact link, field labels, required information, errors and confirmation. Ask only for what the team needs to begin a useful reply. Offer a working phone route if that is part of the business’s service. A long form should have a reason for every required field.

Run a clearly labelled test request through the agreed test process and verify delivery. A success screen alone does not prove that the message reached the people who handle it. Confirm the inbox or customer system, any backup and the responsible person. Do this after integration changes as well as before launch.

04

Does the enquiry reach a person who can act?

For example, a small contractor may receive requests for work outside its service area. Adding clear coverage information and a useful location field could improve the conversation. If appropriate requests arrive but nobody sees them promptly, the problem is routing and ownership. These are diagnostic examples, not measured results from a ShapedSI engagement.

Define who reviews an enquiry, what makes it suitable and how a customer is contacted. Record enquiry receipt, qualification and a booked conversation as separate steps. Do not treat an automated reply as a confirmed booking or a form submission as a sale. Agree on a response routine that your team can maintain.

05

Measure one change before expanding the work

Keep the original landing page and available source information with the enquiry. Review accepted requests and qualified enquiries separately from visits or phone-link clicks. Use comparable periods, note seasonal or campaign changes and avoid claiming that a small fluctuation proves success. If a source is missing, keep it unknown instead of assigning it to AI search.

Choose a repair based on the evidence: clearer copy, a missing comparison, a simpler form, delivery monitoring or an assigned follow-up owner. ShapedSI can scope these parts together with a website project or review the site you already have. Start with the free AI Opportunity Scan and share the public URL and the type of work you want more of.

Bring this to the conversation

A working brief.

  • Discovery: inspect the intended service page and available search data
  • Clarity: identify the service, buyer, coverage and next step
  • Trust: use accurate evidence and label illustrations
  • Enquiry: test fields, errors, delivery and the phone link
  • Follow-up: name an owner and define a suitable enquiry
  • Measurement: keep landing source and separate visits, enquiries, meetings and sales

A few useful questions.

Should I buy more traffic first?

First confirm that the page and enquiry handoff work. If suitable visitors are already reaching a broken route, more traffic will not repair that route.

Will adding an AI assistant solve it?

Only if answering questions or routing requests addresses an observed problem. Clear content and a dependable contact path may be sufficient.

How long until a change brings clients?

There is no fixed timeline. It depends on demand, discovery, the offer and follow-up. Agree on review points and use observed enquiries to decide the next change.
